About Saleh

I started my fitness journey from very humble beginnings in my early teenage years. Insecure about my small stature and frame, I decided to make the best with the hand I was dealt. Initially, I took an interest in calisthenics, bodybuilding, and powerlifting and during this phase of my life I amassed feats such as a 4 time bodyweight deadlift, 3 time bodyweight squat and a 2 time bodyweight bench. However, if you were to ask me about my greatest feat accomplished it would have to be developing a level of confidence through fitness that otherwise would not have been possible.

It was not until my 2nd year of university that I started to experiment with other avenues of fitness such as optimizing body movement patterns and overall performance in regard to sport or the betterment of overall quality of life. Hence, I threw myself into the strength and conditioning scene at York University. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work with athletes at various levels, from high level elementary, high school and collegiate level students where I was responsible for developing tailored training programs that improved performance and reduced injury risk. This hands-on experience has not only sharpened my practical skills but also reinforced my passion for helping others achieve their athletic and fitness goals. As a recent kinesiology graduate from York with a specialization in strength training & sports performance, I bring a unique blend of scientific knowledge and practical application to the world of fitness. My academic background has equipped me with a deep understanding of human movement, exercise physiology, and injury prevention while my practical experience has given me strong communication and interpersonal skills that allow me to build lasting relationships with clients.

Although my background primarily served athletes, I find that my expertise in kinesiology can go beyond that of on field goals and can offer innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of general population clients everywhere.Although I come from primarily a strength training background, I find what separates me from the majority of coaches is that I would not classify myself into any fitness niche. I believe all realms of training styles have a time and place depending on the goals of the client. Everyone is unique in their own way and it’s up to me as a coach to find what caters best for them and elicits the greatest fitness response.

Questionaire

What do you say to the person who’s afraid to begin exercising?
You can live in the hypothetical of “One Day”, or you can take matters into your own hands and say, “Day One”. The choice will always be yours.

Favorite Exercise?
Push Jerk

Least Favorite Exercise?
Sled Pushes

What do you do when you’re not whipping people into shape?
Whipping myself into shape. I’m in the endless pursuit of getting in the best shape of my life!

Guilty Indulgence?
Bed rotting on Sundays and going through a marathon of football games from 1 to 11 PM.

If you were a superhero who would it be & why?

Spiderman. Definitely not the biggest in the room but one of the strongest, most mobile and agile superheroes.

Your secret to success?
Getting out of your comfort zone. If I stayed within my comfort zone I would not be at PMF today leading group classes. If you asked me a couple years ago if I would have to talk in front of large groups as someone who naturally felt their stomach sink in front of my own peers doing presentations, I would say you were out of your damn mind, But it’s because I constantly put myself in uncomfortable situations I got opportunities that I would not otherwise have.

It’s not the size of a dog in a fight, it`s the size of the fight in a dog.
