Growing up, Jennifer was always the girl who would participate in any sports held at school. Her favorite sport was soccer, and she has been playing for over 15 years. From becoming City Champions in grade 8 to playing for Seneca’s Women’s Soccer team, Jennifer’s dedication to soccer has been unwavering. Over the years, she has showcased her talent in many tournaments, won numerous MVP awards, and even became a National Scholar in her first year as a college athlete.
Although soccer was her first passion, Jennifer’s gym journey began around two years ago. Joining the Fitness & Health Promotion Program at Seneca enabled her to break free from her shell and start going to the gym. Like many beginners, she initially felt scared and intimidated. However, her desire for change was much stronger, and she did not want to continue being the thin girl she was. Today, Jennifer feels physically and mentally stronger than ever.
Jennifer’s goal is to help others, especially women, find the confidence to start at the gym and develop a passion for staying committed to their fitness goals. She understands how daunting it can be to walk into a gym and feel out of place. She recalls her first gym experience, where she only lifted dumbbells for a few minutes before leaving because she felt so out of place. Yet, every time she showed up, she fell in love with the process of learning and seeing herself progress.
What Jennifer learned most about the gym is that it is a place where she does not feel judged. Everyone is there to better themselves as individuals. She believes that everyone who goes to the gym is willing to put in the effort to be a better person than they were the day before. Whether it’s for aesthetics, health-related issues, or weight loss/gain, she always remembers where she started and how far she has come.
As Jennifer graduates from college with a diploma in Health and Fitness Promotion, she looks forward to coaching people who want to get started in the gym or improve their performance in their sport. She has coached kids at SC Toronto during previous summers and currently assists with a U12 girls team at North Toronto Nitros. This experience has allowed her to showcase her leadership skills and give young players the confidence to strive for future success. Jennifer’s goal with any client is to break mental barriers and crush every workout to progressively achieve their goals.
